Biohealth Science

Many people have asked me what is Biohealth Science all about actually...Everyone only knows about medicine, dentistry and pharmacy...hah hah....

This is the excerpt from UM's website :

The purpose of the interdisciplinary program is to produce graduates who have sound knowledge of biological sciences with particular reference to its application to medical and health-related fields. Biohealth Science deals with the scientific basis of health and disease in humans and is currently one of the most rapidly developing areas in biological sciences.

The B.Sc. (Biohealth Science) has been developed for very able students with strong interest and inclination towards health-related disciplines. Students have the opportunity to study fundamental biology in addition to a wide variety of biohealth subjects such as physiology, genetics, microbiology, immunology, pharmacology, biochemistry, neurobiology, histology, health care and DNA recombinant technology.

Entry into the programme is competitive. The programme receives hundreds of applications each year, but accepts only a limited number of students yearly. Selection is based on availability of places and academic merit.

This programme is a major in Biohealth Science. Upon graduation, candidates will be conferred with Bachelor of Science degree.

“It started as a random choice, but led to an enjoyable journey of knowledge. That is what Biohealth Science had offered me for the past years. It is a course which has equipped me with knowledge as well as practical experience in the forever-enchanting field of biology and life. Exposure to histology, physiology, pharmacology, biochemistry, microbiology and genetics makes Biohealth Science one of the most challenging courses.”

I personally chose this because I really do have strong interest in medical fields...but i never wanted to be a doctor or a dentist......heh heh.....Organic Chemistry got me becoming scared of Pharmacy....which apparently is said to be harder than medicine or dentistry......
